Welcome to Golden Ballet Theater

Where Beautiful Dance Education Begins With Belonging

At Golden Ballet Theater, we believe something wonderful happens when excellent dance education meets genuine compassion.

Students discover the joy of movement. They learn new skills, explore their creativity, and begin to recognize what they're capable of.

And just as importantly, they have the opportunity to experience what it feels like to be encouraged, respected, and supported as they learn.

Located in Golden, Colorado, our school welcomes children beginning at age three, growing dancers, and adults who want to discover—or rediscover—the joy of dance.

We believe beautiful technique and a beautiful learning experience belong together.

Every Dancer Deserves

to Feel Seen

Every student arrives with their own personality, experiences, abilities, and way of learning.

Some children run into their first class, ready for an adventure. Others need a little time to feel comfortable in a new environment.

We welcome both.

Our teachers understand that learning something new takes courage. We meet students where they are, introduce skills thoughtfully, and celebrate the moments when something begins to click.

Sometimes that means offering a new explanation. Sometimes it means slowing down. Sometimes it means giving a student the encouragement they need to try again.

We want our students to know that they don't have to be perfect to belong here.

They simply get to begin.

And from that beginning, beautiful things can grow.

Exceptional Teaching Is an Art of Its Own

We believe it's ALL in the trainin

We believe knowing how to dance and knowing how to teach dance are two different skills.

An exceptional educator understands not only the movement, but also how to communicate it in ways that are appropriate for each student's age, experience, and development.

That's why we're committed to thoughtful, progressive dance education.

Our small classes, typically four to ten students, allow teachers to offer individual attention, recognize each dancer's needs, and support their development.

We carefully consider class placement and skill progression so students have the opportunity to build strong foundations before moving toward more advanced work.

Our ballet education draws on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) approach, with guidance from RAD Examiner Vera Stephenson and a commitment to continued professional education.

We believe that technical excellence grows best through patient instruction, consistency, and an understanding of the individual dancer.

A Strong Foundation for Dance—and for Life.

Dance is a beautiful art form, and learning it well takes practice.

Students develop coordination, musicality, balance, strength, spatial awareness, and an understanding of how their bodies move.

They also encounter challenges.

A movement may feel unfamiliar. A sequence may take time to remember. A new skill may require patience and many attempts.

These moments are part of learning.

We guide our students to approach challenges with curiosity, perseverance, and respect for themselves.

Our hope is that, through their dance education, they begin to develop a deeper sense of self-trust—the confidence that comes from discovering, “I can learn this.”

We call this teaching integrity of movement, with the hope that it helps nurture integrity of character.

Exceptional Dance Education Begins With Exceptional Teaching

At Golden Ballet Theater, we believe that being a beautiful dancer and being an exceptional dance educator are two different skills. Our students deserve teachers who understand not only the art of dance, but also how to teach it with care, knowledge, and intention.

That's why Golden Ballet Theater follows the internationally respected Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) approach to ballet education, built on more than a century of experience in dance training and teacher development.

Our programs are overseen by Ms. Vera Stephenson, a registered Royal Academy of Dance teacher, helping ensure that our students receive thoughtful, structured instruction that supports their individual growth.

We believe exceptional dance education is about more than learning steps. It's about building a strong foundation while nurturing each dancer's confidence, artistry, and love of movement.

Dance Class 1 & 2

Imagination is used to build learning skills under age 5 especially because they are in their creative mind and is an essential part of harnessing & maintaining imagination.

Grade 1

Grade 1 is the beginning of classical work.  This program includes ballet, character, and sets the foundation for coursework that molds a dancer into an artist.

Pre-Primary

We continue to build imagination in this grade while including arm & leg coordination, and short dance exercises they memorize and master with music and spacing.

Grade 2

Grade 2 is the second level of classical work.  This program includes ballet and character dance.

Primary

Primary is the last pre-ballet grade that prepares them perfectly for classical work. It's a wonderful blend of coordination, imagination, fun movement skills, and is an incredible foundation for Grade 1.

Grade 3 & 4

Grade 3 and 4 are progressive levels of classical work that lead into the pre-professional division.  This program includes ballet, character dance, and pointe work for some.
